Did you ever notice how dogs follow our eyes? Humans are the only apes with enough white in the eyes to make it easy to follow where we are looking. Dogs do that. It is thought that this could be an evolutionary adaptation, on our part, that not only helped bond us with dogs, but, enabled them to bond and be so useful to us. No one knows if Neanderthals had prominent whites in their eyes. If they didn’t dogs would have not bonded with them as they did with our ancestors and it is theorized that the edge dogs gave us in hunting helped us and inadvertently helped to bring about the demise of Neanderthals.
